Parts Description

See below for a description of each part that Triple S may work on/replace whilst we attend to your vehicle.

How a clutch operates

The clutch connects and disconnects the engine from the gearbox, allowing you to change gears smoothly.

When you press the clutch pedal, the clutch disengages; releasing the pedal reconnects the engine to the gearbox and transfers power to the wheels.

How a dual mass flywheel operates
How a concentric slave cylinder operates
How a clutch master cylinder operates
How a clutch cable operates

The dual mass flywheel absorbs engine vibrations and reduces shock through the drivetrain, helping provide smoother gear changes, quieter running and improved driving comfort.

The concentric slave cylinder uses hydraulic pressure to move a bearing directly against the clutch pressure plate, disengaging the clutch and allowing smooth gear changes

The clutch master cylinder converts pedal movement into hydraulic pressure, sending fluid to the slave cylinder to disengage the clutch.

A failing master cylinder can cause a soft or sinking pedal, difficulty selecting gears or loss of clutch operation. If the clutch pedal remains hard or the clutch fails to disengage despite good hydraulic pressure, this can indicate the clutch itself is seized or sticking.

The clutch cable transfers movement from the clutch pedal to the clutch release mechanism. When the pedal is pressed, the cable pulls the release arm, disengaging the clutch and allowing the driver to change gear.

A stretched, worn or seized cable can cause a heavy pedal, difficulty selecting gears or the clutch failing to disengage.
